Some backyards just need a clean reset. That's exactly what we had here - bare, patchy ground that wasn't doing the space any favors. The stone edging was already in place, the beds were defined, but the lawn area itself was just dirt. Not a great look, especially for a property with this kind of setting.

Before any sod goes down, the ground prep has to be right. We worked the soil, raked it level, and made sure the surface was ready to actually hold sod and let it root properly. Skip that step and you're setting yourself up for failure - uneven ground, poor contact, and sod that struggles to take hold.

We laid 2 pallets of palisade zoysia, and this grass is a solid choice for the region. It's a dense, fine-bladed variety that handles heat and drought better than most. It fills in clean, holds its color, and once it roots, it forms a tough, tight turf. For a backyard space that people actually want to use, it's hard to beat.

The finished result speaks for itself. What started as bare soil is now a full, green lawn - one that works with the existing landscaping and makes the whole backyard feel intentional and put-together. The sod installation tied everything together and gave this outdoor space a finished look it was missing.

Sod installation done right is more than just rolling out grass. It's about prepping the ground, choosing the right variety for the conditions, and laying it tight so it establishes fast. That's the approach we take on every job, whether it's a small patch or a full backyard.
