This yard was pretty much bare dirt when we got there. New construction sites are like that - the builder gets the house up, and the lawn is just an afterthought. What you end up with is compacted sandy soil, uneven ground, and scattered weeds trying to take hold. Not exactly a foundation that grass can thrive on.

Before any sod went down, we graded the yard first. That step matters more than most people realize. If the ground isn't properly leveled and prepped, the sod won't make good contact with the soil - and sod that can't establish root contact is just grass sitting on top of dirt, waiting to fail. We don't skip that part.

Once the ground was ready, we laid the sod across the yard to give the home a solid, uniform lawn. The difference between a prepped surface and what was there before is night and day. The sod sits flat, the rows are tight, and the grass has what it needs to take root and fill in right.

Good prep is what separates a lawn that looks great long-term from one that patches and dies in the first few weeks. We take that seriously on every job we do, whether it's a new build or a yard that just needs a full reset. The work we put in before the first roll of sod goes down is what makes the end result worth it.

If your yard is stuck in that same spot - bare dirt, patchy growth, or just a mess left over from construction - sod installation done right can get you where you want to be a lot faster than seeding and waiting. We cover Covington and the surrounding area, and we'd be glad to take a look at what you're working with.
